MIT is dedicated to sharing its academic resources, talent, and excitement about learning through a variety of educational initiatives.

Edgerton Center

The Edgerton Center's goal is to couple service learning with practical education. The Center's Outreach Program offers opportunities for Cambridge Public School students or community groups to explore the puzzles of science and technology in a stimulating, hands-on environment.

K-12 Outreach

MIT has a variety of K-12 Outreach programs available to the public.

MIT Council for Primary and Secondary Education

The MIT Council on Primary and Secondary Education (CPSE) catalogs the programs that bring the strengths of MIT to bear on the American K-12 system. The CPSE web site offers information on dozens of MIT programs for K-12 teachers and students.

Massachusetts State Science and Engineering Fair

MIT hosts the 60-year-old Massachusetts State Science and Engineering Fair for high school students. MSSEF is committed to increasing participation in inquiry-based learning through the development of science and engineering projects by middle school and high school students. The annual fair showcases and celebrates that learning.

Cambridge Science Festival

The Cambridge Science Festival, the first of its kind in the United States, is a celebration showcasing Cambridge as an internationally recognized leader in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). MIT is a sponsor and a collaborator of the Cambridge Science Festival.

MIT OpenCourseWare

MIT OpenCourseware is a large-scale, web-based electronic publishing initiative that provides free, searchable, coherent access to MIT's course materials for educators in the non-profit sector, students, and individual learners around the world. The MIT OpenCourseware Highlights for High School features materials that are most useful for high school students and teachers.

MIT Museum

The MIT Museum presents exhibitions and programs that explore the foundations and frontiers of science and technology. The Museum creates a variety of fun and educational programs available to the public.

List Visual Arts Center

The List Visual Arts Center's mission is to explore contemporary art making in all media. The Center offers a wide range of educational programs to enhance appreciation of the arts, including free gallery tours, artists' talks, and film and video screenings.
